Wallace Chan is an internationally renowned Chinese jewellery artist. His jewellery creations are highly acclaimed by jewellery experts, collectors, and international media because they integrate unique and innovative design with revolutionary technologies.

Wallace Chan started at 16 as a gemstone carving apprentice and established his own gemstone carving workshop at 17. Since then, his destiny has been intertwined with gemstones for more than 40 years.

He is different from other jewellery designers in the general sense. With his remarkable level of craftsmanship, he does not only design, but is also involved in all stages of the jewellery making process, including cutting, polishing, carving, and setting. The artistic coherence of his creations is thus established throughout the entire process of creation and expresses perfectly the dreams, emotions, concepts, and styles of the artist.

In the world of haute joaillerie, Wallace Chan has stood out with unconventional creations to mark his uniqueness. In constant pursuit of innovation, he creates and showcases jewellery as work of art. His jewellery creations are wearable and can also be seen as sculptures on a micro scale. To make breakthroughs in innovations, he has invented many tools and explored new materials. For example, he has successfully mastered titanium for structural support in jewellery after 8 years of research.

In recent years, Wallace Chan has been featured extensively in international media. He is also the first Chinese jewellery artist selected to showcase his creations at several international exhibitions: Masterpiece London, TEFAF, and Biennale des Antiquaires. In 2015, his very first illustrated monograph was published by Rizzoli. He was also invited to deliver talks at Central Saint Martins, the V&A Museum, and the Cooper Hewitt Museum.

“A Heritage in Bloom” Embodies Hopes to Pass on Prosperity, Beauty, Knowledge and Spiritual Values to Future Generations

Chow Tai Fook unveiled “A Heritage in Bloom”, one of the most significant diamond masterpieces to have emerged from contemporary China. Created by world-renowned jewellery artist Wallace Chan, the piece is centred upon 24 D-colour internally flawless (DIF) diamonds cut from the Cullinan Heritage, an exceptionally rare 507.55 carat Type IIA rough diamond Chow Tai Fook acquired in 2010. The largest piece of 104 carat brilliant round diamond with the highest possible cut grade of 3-Excellent is one of the largest of its kind ever made.

The piece also brings together thousands of white diamonds and hundreds of pink diamonds, totaling 383.4 carat, as well as more than one hundred pieces of green jadeite and mutton fat white jade. The creation of this masterpiece represents more than 47,000 hours of efforts and craftsmanship. Uniquely modular, it can be worn in 27 different styles, showcasing the sophistication of the design and exquisite composition that is beyond comparison.
